Recently, the Ministry of human resources and social security and the State Administration of foreign languages of China issued the guiding opinions on deepening the reform of the professional title system for translation professionals (hereinafter referred to as the opinions) to deploy the reform of the professional title system for translation professionals.
 
The opinions pointed out that translation professionals are an important part of the professional and technical personnel team, and an important force to promote China's opening up, international exchanges and cooperation, and enhance the country's cultural soft power. One belt, one road, is China. We should deepen the reform of the title system of translation professionals, and improve the professional title system that accords with the occupation characteristics of translation professionals. It is mainly aimed at training high-level translation talents, providing talents for building China's external discourse system, promoting the construction of "one belt and one road" and achieving a higher level of openness.
 
In order to further reflect the core content of high-level translation work and keep up with the international standards in terms of name, the senior name of the translation series is determined as the translation examiner.
 
According to the opinions, it is necessary to improve the evaluation criteria, innovate the evaluation mechanism, enrich the evaluation methods, highlight the evaluation of the moral character, ability and performance of translation professionals, get rid of the tendency of focusing on academic qualifications, papers and awards, and fully stimulate the innovation and creativity of translation professionals. It is necessary to improve the examination system. According to the economic and social development and the needs of the industry, the examination languages with high frequency, wide range, urgent needs of the industry and numerous learners and practitioners should be increased in time. It is necessary to accept the application for professional titles of non-public economic organizations, social organizations and freelance translation professionals through various channels, set up a series of socialized evaluation organizations for translation, promote the socialized evaluation, and solve the prominent problem of the difficulties in the application for professional titles of translation for non-public practitioners. To explore the establishment of translation qualification examination centers in mature countries and regions, actively promote the international mutual recognition of translation qualification evaluation results, and effectively promote cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries. We should promote the integration of translation degree education, professional qualification system and professional title system, promote the integration of professional title system and employment system, and combine talent training, evaluation and use, so as to better promote the professional development of translation professionals.
 
According to the opinions, all regions and relevant departments should fully understand the significance of the reform of the title system of translation professionals, strengthen organizational leadership, promote the reform steadily and cautiously, do a good job in publicity and guidance, and jointly create a good atmosphere conducive to the reform of the title system of translation professionals.
