Moscow University's GAOFAN College (the Oriental Language College before 1972) was founded in 1956. The history of Oriental Language and culture studies in Moscow university can be traced back to the 1850s. Founded in 1956 on the basis of the West African history and language teaching and research group of the Department of history and linguistics, GAOFAN college has a historical tradition of studying Oriental countries for more than 200 years. GAOFAN college is the main teaching base for training talents in Oriental Language and culture in Russia.
